The “two Sisters”, Betty and Patricia, have been close friends since early in Childhood.  They have continued their blessed friendship with a    strong family bond.  As their families have grown, so too has their faith in God and in the goodness of life.  The figurine above is a symbol of their “sisterhood” and more than 40 years of loving friendship. Throughout their lives, sewing and embroidery became a hobby that they both have enjoyed together.  These crafts have enriched them a true sense of freedom and joy unmatched by any other activity.

One can truly argue that America, especially southern living, has come a long way and that times have changed in a manner that those simple things are now taken for granted.  Story Quilting became a part of African-American culture as Harriet Powers, a slave-born African American woman, made two famous story quilts.  She was just one of the many African American quilters who contributed to the evolution of quilting and thus traditions of this art have been passed on.  Eventually, youth of our days have forgotten that the struggles of the past have harvested into blooming flowers for the future.

In 2007, Betty and Patricia began Sister’s Alterations in their current location with the vision of this humble figurine of two sisters sitting, holding each other up.  As such Betty and Patricia hold each other up through womanhood, faith, friendship and respect.

So come by and meet Betty and Patricia, two sisters, a warm greeting awaits you.
